Kent-specific expertise
Kent has its own quirks: a deep stock of Victorian and Edwardian terraces (the Medway towns, Margate, Folkestone, Canterbury, Whitstable), 1930s suburbia (Dartford, Gravesend, Tunbridge Wells), post-war estates (Rainham, Twydall, Parkwood), and a growing new-build sector (Ebbsfleet, Kings Hill, Henley-in-Arden Park). Each needs a different specification:
- Victorian terraces (Medway, Margate, Canterbury): breathable insulated plasterboard on dabs, never a sealed-cavity foil-back on solid 9-inch walls (damp risk)
- 1930s semis (Dartford, Gravesend, Tunbridge Wells): cavity-wall insulated plasterboard, 25-30mm PIR or EPS, ties checked before boarding
- Post-war estates (Rainham, Twydall, Parkwood): standard 12.5mm wallboard + skim, with attention to original concrete ceilings and possible asbestos risk (we always survey first)
- New-builds (Ebbsfleet, Kings Hill): developer-spec or upgrade to acoustic/timber-stressed partitions for better Part E performance
- Coastal Kent (Whitstable, Margate, Deal, Folkestone): moisture-resistant plasterboard in any room with high humidity (kitchens, bathrooms, ground floors of single-skin construction)

How a Kent job is priced
We always provide a written, itemised quote after a free site survey within 30 miles of Gillingham (covers Medway, Maidstone, Sittingbourne, Sheerness, the Swale towns, and the Gravesend/Dartford corridor). Beyond 30 miles, a small mileage deposit may apply, refunded against the quote. There is no charge for the survey itself. We aim to turn around written quotes within 48 hours of the site visit, and we don't take deposits on residential work under £5,000 contract value.
