Gillingham Drylining FAQ
Is dry lining cheaper than traditional plastering?
For most projects, yes. Dry lining is typically 30-50% cheaper than traditional wet plastering in Gillingham, both in direct labour and in drying-time cost (no waiting days for plaster to dry before painting).
Where traditional plastering is still the right choice: small repair jobs, complex curves, listed buildings where breathable lime plaster is required, and where a premium seamless finish is needed (e.g. high-end residential or heritage restoration in Luton, Grange, and the Gillingham Conservation Area).
A wet-plaster skim coat over plasterboard in Gillingham adds about £7 - £11 per m² over tape-and-joint. Dot-and-dab drylining plus skim often lands at a similar total price to two-coat wet plastering, but finishes in a fraction of the time and avoids the 4-7 day drying window.
